Read first, buy second.

Short, unembellished guides. No claims we cannot support and no attempt to make a supplement sound like a medicine.

01

Choosing a format

Tinctures are fast and easy to adjust. Capsules are consistent and portable. Powders are the cheapest per gram and demand a scale. The right format is usually the one you will actually keep using.

02

Finding your dose

Start at the bottom of the range and stay there for several days before changing anything. Most people overshoot on the first week and conclude the product is wrong when the dose was.

03

Weighing bulk actives

Single actives are sold by weight because that is how they should be measured. Use a scale accurate to 0.01g, weigh into water, and never estimate with a spoon.

04

Reading a certificate of analysis

A COA tells you identity, assay, heavy metals, solvents and microbial counts, along with the batch number and the lab. If a brand will not show you one, that is the answer.

05

Traditional use, plainly stated

Several of our botanicals have long histories of traditional use in southern Africa. Traditional use is context, not a clinical claim, and we describe it that way throughout the site.

06

When not to take something

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, prescription medication — particularly antidepressants and sedatives — and any planned surgery all warrant a conversation with your doctor first.
